Ready NYC: This app was created by the Department of Information Technology and Telecomm to help users make an emergency plan. It lets users store information including emergency contacts, meeting places, health information and supply lists to make sure users gather the right items. Ready NYC is available on iPhones and Androids.
NYC 311: Subscribers will get alerts from government services and can report snow/ice conditions. The app is available for iPhones and Androids.
Winter Survival Kit: This app provides users with vital information if they get stuck or stranded in severe weather conditions. Winter Survival Kit will help find your current location, call 911 and your friends and family. If the user gets stranded in their car, the app will calculate how long you can run your engine to keep warm and stay safe from carbon monoxide poisoning. It will alert you every 30 minutes to periodically turn off your engine and check the exhaust pipe for snow buildup. It’s available for iPhones and Androids.
