Red Cross NY chief talks national blood crisis, how to donate blood to help
For the first time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. The organization said it's experiencing its worst blood shortage in over a decade.
January also happens to be National Blood Donor Month, and the Red Cross is urging people to step up and donate blood.
Mary Barneby, the reginal CEO for the Red Cross of Greater New York, spoke with the PIX11 Morning News about the crisis. She shared where the nation's blood supply currently stands and what's at stake if people don't give.
