This pandemic has been tough on many people’s mental health. And when it comes to depression, it can affect people from all walks of life, no matter their background
The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that 1-point-7 million American adults are affected by a major depressive disorder. And while many people may take medication, one New Jersey doctor is helping his patients find relief with a new treatment.

Dominique Zadok’s life changed forever after a car accident 6 years ago. Plagued by headaches and concentration issues, she soon was in a depressive state. “I had total disregard for people, family members friends I’d stay in bed day at a time.”

Dominque tried different medications, Biofeedback and Cognitive therapy. But the depression was persistent.

But there was a light in her future, she was introduced to Dr. David Wolff, a New Jersey psychiatrist, who treats patients with TMS, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. “TMS stimulates the nerve track in your brain having to deal with mood. They get them to function properly to so they can produce the right amount of serotonin and dopamine.

Dopamine and serotonin levels are vital for regulating your mood. Dr. Wolff explains how TMS works. “TMS is a series of magnetic pulses focused over certain parts of the brain. Over the course of 6 weeks it serves to stimulate the nerve tracks having to deal with mood. Usually after 2 to 3 weeks in most patients they begin to feel some improvement and find at that point it continues to get better. “

Dr. Wolff who founded Shore TMS has been offering this FDA approved treatment for the past 2 and a half years and says 80 percent of his patients show improvement with TMS.

Dr. Wolff offers free consolations at his office, and TMS is covered by Medicare and most insurances.

“It’s so rewarding to see these people improve. Some have been depressed for years, they come back and they start to enjoy life again, not only are the patients happy, but families get to see loved one back from depression and enjoying life.”

Something Dominique can attest to. “My family is so happy to have me back. It was a tough road, but I feel like I have a bright future ahead of me now.”
