One of the special things about living in New York during this time of year is the way so many cultures express their personal touch on the holidays, especially when it comes to food. PIX11’s Marysol Castro had the pleasure of experiencing Jamaican holiday traditions and some “Festive Feasting” with the help of Bellyful Restaurant in Brooklyn and Grace Foods, the Caribbean’s leading food manufacturer and distributor.

The “Festive Feasting” continued over the weekend, this time with dozens of students in New Jersey.

On Saturday, Grace Foods hosted a holiday event for 50 middle and high school students from East Orange. The kids, along with their parents and some teachers, were treated to tasty Jamaican dishes made by local chefs.  Students from Cecily Tyson Elementary and the Whitney Houston Academy sang Christmas carols to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Grace Foods also awarded prizes to five students from local schools for outstanding academic achievement.

Grace Foods is the largest exporter of Caribbean foods to the U.S. The event was part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the communities where it does business.
