Woman fatally struck in hit-and-run accident while crossing street in Sunset Park

SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn — Police are looking for the driver of s minivan after a pedestrian was fatally struck in Sunset Park early Sunday morning.

The 59-year-old woman using a walker was attempting to cross at the intersection of 42nd Street and 9th Avenue around 12:26 a.m. when she was struck by a white minivan traveling northbound on 9th Avenue, police say.

The driver then made a right turn on 42nd Street and fled the area without stopping.

EMS transported the woman to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. She was identified as Marlene Zotti of 42nd Street in Brooklyn.

The investigation is ongoing.
