A 56-year-old woman walking inside a Brooklyn subway station was violently assaulted Saturday night by a purse snatcher, and the attack was caught on video, according to police.

As the woman left the southbound F train platform at the 18th Ave. station around 2:40 a.m., a thug in a hooded sweatshirt came up behind her and tried to grab her purse.  She resisted, and he viciously began beating and choking her, finally throwing the woman to the ground.

He managed to tear away the woman’s property and fled the station.

Police say he is a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, 150 lbs. and was last seen wearing an “Alpha Phi Delta” sweatshirt that read “Stugotz” with the number 27 on the back.  He had on black jeans and black shoes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the anonymous police tip line Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
