NEW YORK — Commuters traveling to New Jersey through the Lincoln Tunnel should expect major delays after a vehicle burst into flames near the entrance Friday.

The north tube of the Lincoln Tunnel was closed shortly after 3 p.m. after a white van caught on fire, according to the Port Authority.

Plumes of black smoke filled the air while firefighters worked to put it out.

Port Authority officials said around 3:40 that all lanes in the north tunnel have been reopened, but people traveling to New Jersey should expect delays.
