NEW YORK (PIX11) — Thousands marched up Fifth Avenue for the 50th annual Hispanic Day Parade Sunday afternoon.

The parade celebrates the more than 2.4 million Hispanic residents who reside in New York City. Parade participants represent 20 Latin America countries and Spain. Other ethnic groups are represented too, including Irish and Jewish-American communities, the parade’s organizer Carlos Valasquez told the New York Daily News.

Up to one million people are expected to attend the parade, which also marks the final days of Hispanic Heritage Month 2014.
