Weiner’s scandal is taking over the city, in a King Kong – like fashion.

(PIX11) — The New Yorker’s upcoming Anthony Weiner cover is somewhat out-of-character for the generally highbrow magazine, but it is also hilarious and perfect.

“With a topic like Anthony Weiner, how can you find anything broad or funny that he hasn’t already personally breached?” artist John Cuneo, who created the cover for next week’s edition, told The New Yorker.  “Free association made me think of the Empire State Building, and then King Kong, the iconic image of him straddling it. And then Weiner sexting, his head tilted and looking a certain way—I just stumbled upon the image as I was sketching. But all I could think about while working on this piece was, ‘Will Weiner still be in the race by the time it runs?’”

Who can resist making silly puns and jokes when Anthony Weiner’s name aligns so perfectly with his scandals?

Certainly not Stephen Colbert:

not John Oliver either:

Not even the gyms could resist!

David Horsey of the LA Times had this interpretation:

Maclean’s, a Canadian newspaper, made headlines drawing a connection to an acclaimed CBS series: “Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin star in The Good Wife, Part II”
