COBBLE HILL, Brooklyn (PIX11) – It appears the community of Cobble Hill will get to keep their hospital — at least for now.

State University of New York officials are dropping plans to turn Long Island College Hospital into a condominium complex and an urgent care center.

This is a victory for those who have been fighting LICH’s shutdown for months.

But, trouble for the hospital is not over. LICH is costing SUNY about $13 million a month, money officials say just isn’t there.

SUNY officials say they have about a month before they will not be able to afford to pay LICH employees.
