Ashley Madison is a dating site catering to individuals looking to have a extramarital relationship or infidelity. They have 37 million registered users.
Last month, the Impact Team announced their issue with Ashley Madison’s policy of charging $19 for a “full delete” of a user’s profile. The hacker group said it was a lie, and were willing to prove it by publishing names, addresses and more if Ashley Madison did not shut down their site.
Avid Life Media, Ashley Madison’s parent company, said they have been able to secure the site, close the unauthorized access points and are working with proper authorities. They did not shut down their website.
The website still touts a “trusted security award” and “100% discreet service” badges on their homepage.
