MIDWOOD, Brooklyn — A man’s skeletal remains were found in the Brooklyn home where his mother lived — and they may have been there for up to eight years, police sources said.
A relative of the dead man made the grisly discovery at 2111 Avenue N on Thursday around 1:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson said.
The family member was at the home because the woman living there had fallen and had to be hospitalized, sources said. The relative then returned to the residence to retrieve the woman’s belongings, found the remains and called 911, according to sources.
A police source confirmed that the skeletal remains belonged to the son of the woman who was living at the home where they were found.
The deceased man, whose name has not yet been released, was a former taxi driver who would have turned 51 years old this week.
He was last seen in 2008 when he was in a car accident. However, a relative told police his family hasn’t seen him in 20 years, a police official said.
The office of the chief medical examiner will ID the skeletal remains and determine the cause of death.
