Security officer shoots self accidentally in Central Islip courthouse

A federal court security officer accidentally shot himself in the arm Monday morning at a courthouse locker room in Central Islip.

The office sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident on the third floor of the building.  He has more than 30 years of experience, Newsday reports.

According to Suffolk County police, the shooting occurred  about 9:20 a.m.

It is still unclear if the feds will lead an investigation, since the incident took place on federal grounds.
