Search for vandals who knocked down angel statue outside Brooklyn church

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn – Police are searching for two men who tipped over a religious statue and broke it late last Saturday.

The NYPD says the vandals approached the front of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg around 11:55 p.m. and proceeded to stand on platforms where religious statues were located, causing one of them, an angel figure, to fall and break.

Surveillance video caught the pair, along with a third person, stumbling on the platform and making prayer signs before the statue crashed to floor.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
