R train service between Brooklyn and Manhattan has been restored after damage from Hurricane Sandy.

Full service has return to the “R” line, stopped in its tracks by Hurricane Sandy.

It began running Friday between Brooklyn’s Jay Street-Metrotech and Whitehall Street in Manhattan.

Sandy did a number on the r line’s East River tunnel, flooding it with corrosive salt water.

The electrical and signal systems had to be rebuilt from scratch.
