Police search for bicyclist who left scene after hitting pedestrian on East Side

NEW YORK —  Lily and Mary Grace Belfi were headed to lunch on the East Side.

They parked the car along First Avenue between 86th & 87th Streets last week.

Mary Grace stepped into the protected bike lane after getting parking receipt at the Muni-Meter.

Reports say a bicyclist hit Mary Grace and she is currently in the hospital. The family car was equipped with a camera on the and the family has made these pictures available to police and the public.

NYC Councilmember Ben Kallos, who represents the East Side, held a media briefing at the site with NYPD. They are emphasizing pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

Police are looking for the bicyclist.

Leaving the scene of a crash either on a bike or in a car is against the law.
