GAFFNEY, S.C. — A day care in South Carolina is being investigated after a teenager snapped a photo of her toe jammed in a 7-month-old’s mouth then posted the photo to Snapchat.

The photo was taken at a home where the child was being cared for, WSPA reported. It then circulated, eventually grabbing the attention of the baby’s parents.

Police say the 15-year-old, who is not related to the baby, was visiting the daughter of the homeowner at the time of the incident. She is not facing any charges at this time.

But, neighbors say something should be done.

“Somebody should be apologizing and there should be something done about it,” said Bridgette Dawkins, who is friends with the mother of the baby in the photo. “It don’t need to be pushed under the rug; she needs to be punished.”

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is looking into whether the home, which was not registered with the state, needed a license.

Police are also looking into whether other children were being cared for in the home.
