Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Long Island

CORAM, Long Island (PIX11) — Police are investigating after a man was killed during a hit-and-run in Coram Saturday morning.

Officials say the man was walking on Route 112 between Granny Road and Route 25 when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound at approximately 5:55 a.m. The vehicle fled the scene northbound toward Route 25.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle is believed to be light in color, possibly tan, with front-end damage.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
