EAST HARLEM, Manhattan– The NYPD has temporarily halted their search  for a teen who jumped into the East River Sunday night until the morning, leaving many of the boy’s loved ones in disbelief.

The teen’s loved ones embrace each other after he leaped into the East River for unknown reasons.

Sources tell PIX11, the 15-year-old’s family members say he leaped into the water near the Ward Island’s Bridge around 11 p.m.

NYPD’s Harbor and FDNY’s Marine units responded but suspended their search shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday. A NYPD spokesperson said they will resume looking for the boy after sunrise.

No word on why the teenager entered the water.
