T-Mobile offers free texting, calling to areas affected by Hurricane Matthew

NEW YORK — T-Mobile customers can call or text family and friends in areas impacted by Hurricane Matthew for free.

The cell phone carrier is making it free to call and text from the U.S. to areas including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos, according to a news release.

T-Mobile is also waiving roaming fees on calls and texts for customers in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Haiti, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos.

The offer is available beginning Tuesday and will end Friday at 11:59 p.m. PT.

All T-Mobile ONE and T-Mobile Simple Choice customers, along with MetroPCS, GoSmart Mobile and WalMart Family Mobile customers will be able to take advantage of the offer.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of this powerful storm,” T-Mobile President and CEO John Legere said. “Please be sure to check on your loved ones.”
