Security guard shoots bank robbery suspect at Chase Bank in Franklin Square

FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. — A suspect in a bank robbery in Franklin Square was shot by the bank’s security guard, Nassau County police say.

The robbery happened at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Chase Bank on Franklin Avenue.

Police say the suspect entered the bank, announced a  robbery and pointed a handgun at two security guards. One of the guards drew his weapon and shot at the suspect four times, striking him.

The man was transported to the hospital in an unknown condition.

No other injuries have been reported.
