TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan — A man who danced, allegedly screamed about Donald Trump and spit at officers all while completely naked in Times Square Thursday has been identified as a model who has walked the runway for fashion greats such as Ralph Lauren.
Sources identified the naked man as Krit McClean, who is signed with Ford Models, the agency’s website shows, and has appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Men and GQ Style.
PIX11 has reached out to Ford Models, but did not immediately receive comment.
The Bangkok native grew up in New York City and is currently on a “gap year” from Columbia University “to give my modeling career every chance,” according to his lifestyle blog.
Police have only confirmed they detained a 21-year-old man from Manhattan who was hospitalized after falling from a platform while naked.
In addition to appearing on several fashion magazine covers, McClean has walked the runway for Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren, according to his blog.
The model’s seemingly glamorous lifestyle took an odd turn Thursday when he made a spectacle of himself in Times Square.
Officers from a hostage negotiation team first responded around 7:40 a.m., and for about an hour attempted to get McClean to calm down as he danced, grabbed his genitals, and screamed at officers and onlookers while standing atop the TKTS booth.
Several videos were posted to Periscope documenting his antics, and in one he apparently yells, “Where are you, Donald Trump?”
After responders set up a large airbag in case the naked man fell, he appeared to do just that, but landed on the pavement.
He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue with minor injuries and will undergo a psychiatric evaluation, police said.
When he is released from the hospital, McClean will be charged with indecent exposure, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.
Throngs of onlookers watched as the bizarre situation unfolded.
“It’s one of the sadder things I’ve seen,” witness Caoimhe McCaughey said. “Because he’s either mentally unwell or he’s on drugs.”
Wesley Ahlgren, a tourist from California, recorded the encounter and broadcast it live on Periscope.
“Police were so restrained,” Ahlgren told PIX11 News. “I can’t believe they were so calm, especially when the guy started spitting on them.”
