QUEENS (PIX11) –– Investigators are looking for answers after an MTA worker was hit and killed by a train early Wednesday.
According to officials, the victim was hit by a northbound R train at 46th Street subway in Astoria at about 3:30 a.m.
Investigators say it happened just as the 58-year-old worker was finishing up repair work on the tracks.
All train service has since been restored.
The identity of the worker wasn’t immediately released.
The fatal incident marks the first time a transit worker was killed by a train since 2007.
