Bedford Park, THE BRONX (PIX11) – Cops have a murder mystery on their hands after a two women were found dead in an apartment. The mother and daughter were found just before 6 Thursday night at 2794 Valentine Avenue not far from the Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
Cops say they went to check out the apartment to make sure the people living there were okay after getting a 911 call. Once inside, they say they found 65-year-old Ida Randolph and her 23-yea- old daughter Jana Randolph dead. The women were found in separate bedrooms inside apartment 5A. “It’s really, really, really a surprise. I’m shocked,” said neighbor Lino Carrazan who added, “I live there but I don’t know what’s going on.”
From the outside, you could see one of the apartment windows on the fifth floor was broken. Police say both women suffered trauma to their bodies but detectives on the scene would not elaborate. “It’s shocking. My kids grew up here. This is devastating to me,” said neighbor Jayyidah Nelson who had a son murdered in the neighborhood in 2010. “I’m so scared in this community, I’m gonna move now.”
Police say they are still looking for clues and a motive. So far, there have been no arrests.
