MANHATTAN (PIX11)–On the corner of 46th street and the West Side Highway, you will find a regular good old car wash. It’s been here since 1947 making it a corner staple.

At a quick glance, yes, it looks pretty average – the dirty cars go in and clean cars come out.

However, on the inside, it’s a completely different world. A donut shop! Yes, inside a car wash.

Scott Levine opened Underwest Donuts smack in the middle of the car wash, where the kids can look through the class at the cars getting cleaned.

“Donuts and coffee are something everyone enjoys on a daily basis,” says Levine.

The donuts are gourmet and made fresh daily right on the site from scratch.

You can get coco raspberry, cinnamon or espresso bean coated or halva, dark chocolate, coconut lime and brown butter glazed.

“ It takes about two minutes to fry a donut from start to finish,” says Levine.

The place is open Monday thru Saturday but has plans to expand to Sunday in 2015.
