Asian-American actresses sound off on Scarlett Johansson’s new role, raise issues of whitewashing in Hollywood

Asian-American actresses Constance Wu and Ming Na spoke out against Scarlett Johansson playing the asian anime character in “Ghost in the Shell.” The actresses said this is another example of whitewashing in Hollywood.

Betty Rose Green, manager of Community Education and Outreach for New York’s Asian Woman’s Center, and Christine Wei, executive editor of Mochi Magazine, talked about the issue of whitewashing in Hollywood and the current controversy with Scarlett Johansson casting.
