New multi-cultural community libraries aims to help kids in NYCHA developments

Monica Makes It Happen

NEW YORK — The pandemic changed the way children had to learn and go to school.

Now, a nonprofit called Literacy Inc. is helping build multi-cultural libraries in two NYCHA community centers and are creating more libraries city-wide.

Hundreds of free books were given out in Inwood and the Bronx to celebrate the new community libraries. But if families couldn’t stop by, they can still sign up for virtual early literacy programs and workshops online.
