(PIX11) – Minorities in law enforcement are coming out against sending NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly to Washington.

Kelly’s name is being discussed as a potential nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security.

100 Blacks in Law Enforcement, the National Latino Officers Associations and the Grand Council of Guardians call the Commissioner unfit for the job.

The groups also point to the NYPD’s surveillance of Muslim students, clergy, and places of worship as a reason why they deem Kelly highly unqualified for the federal position.
