SUMTER, S.C. (PIX11) — A South Carolina man’s Valentine’s Day lunch ended on a sour note when he was arrested after trying to pay for a restaurant check with a $1 trillion bill.

According to The State, Michael Williams dined at an Applebee’s in Sumter. When the debit card the 53-year-old tried to pay his check with was declined, he offered to pay with a $1 trillion bill instead.

The restaurant staff was rightfully suspicious and called the authorities.

Williams was arrested and charged with contempt of magistrate’s court.

He was placed on probation and ordered to pay $262 in court fees.
