GROESBECK, Texas — A Texas man, who was said to be under the influence of marijuana, called police after he thought he was shot in the buttocks, only to realize he was suffering from a dog bite.

Police responded to a call about a shooting at a mobile home park in Groesbeck Thursday. When an officer arrived, a man flagged him down and said he was sitting on the porch and was shot in the left buttock, Groesbeck police said.

The officer investigated the scene and found that the man had been smoking marijuana on the porch when there was a loud thunder. The noise startled the dogs who were with him, causing one to bite the man in the buttock, according to police.

The man, confused, thought he was shot and called police.

He was treated at the scene for his dog bite.
