Man dies trying to get out of stuck elevator

SOUTH BRONX (PIX11) – A man seemingly fell to his death while he tried to escape a stuck elevator at a Bronx apartment building, authorities said Monday.

Officers were called shortly before 4 a.m. to 680 Tinton Ave., a New York City Housing Authority building. There, they discovered the lifeless body of Tito Morales, 20, of 40 Richmond Plaza.

An initial investigation reveals Morales had become stuck in an elevator and while trying to get out, he was killed, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was found between the elevator car and the shaft wall, between the 18th and 19th floors, police said.

Further details were not immediately available. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
