Car strikes and kills 13-year-old girl, injures another in Ozone Park

OZONE PARK, Queens – A car struck two 13-year-old girls at a Queens intersection Monday morning, killing one and injuring another, according to authorities.

The girl who died, Jazmine Marin, sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Jamaica Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The second girl suffered a leg injury and is being treated at the same hospital.

The incident happened at 6:42 a.m. at Cross Bay Boulevard and 149th Avenue in Ozone Park,  police said. The driver of the green Chevy sedan remained at the scene, which is not far from a public school.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is on the case.

The MTA announced the following changes to buses in the area:

Junior High School 202 Robert H. Goddard is located near the crash scene.
