Queens locals campaign to save ‘Little Manila’ neighborhood

WOODSIDE, Queens — October is Filipino American History Month, which commemorates the first Filipinos who came to America in the late 1500s.

For the last half century, Filipinos in New York City have held onto their culture in a Queens neighborhood unofficially known as “Little Manila.”

However, locals say it is in danger of disappearing, and they’re campaigning to save it.
