OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) — A man and a woman died in a possible murder-suicide in Queens Thursday evening, sources said.

It happened in public on a sidewalk near Drew Street and 101st Avenue in Ozone Park around 5:30 p.m., according to the NYPD. A 46-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were both shot in the head, police said.

Witnesses saw the man shoot the woman and then himself, sources told PIX11 News. The incident is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, sources said.

Bystanders took cellphone videos of the man and woman lying on the sidewalk and bleeding. Medics arrived and attempted to save their lives, but both were declared dead at the hospital.

“I saw the videos. The blood was over there and people were just crossing by. That’s really sad,” said Ozone Park resident Mohammad Tansid, who was nearby at the time of the shooting.

Anitga Mangal, who lives nearby, said the daytime gunfire was “very scary at this time especially. It’s usually crowded. It’s a Bengali neighborhood and it’s always crowded.”

Police have not released the identities of the man and woman who died. Their exact relationship was not immediately clear, nor what led to the possible murder-suicide.
