LAURELTON, Queens (PIX11) — A crash in Queens injured multiple pedestrians and killed one person.

The 20-year-old, was operating a 2012 Nissan Altima when he mounted the curb, striking three people at the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and 225th Street in Laurelton around 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses tell PIX11 there may have been a fight at a baby shower that instigated the crash.

When police arrived, they found one person pinned under the car.

Police pronounced him dead at the scene. He has been identified as 20-year-old Kevin Lewis of 219-19 137th Ave. in Queens.

A 19-year-old girl and a 21-year-old girl were taken to Jamaica Hospital where they are listed in critical condition.

The driver fled on foot after the accident but was found by police a short time after and taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
