GLEN OAKS, Queens (PIX11) – A Queens grandfather was killed when a vehicle crashed into his car as he was unloading groceries with his family on Tuesday, authorities said.
The crash happened on 73rd Avenue near 260th Street in Glen Oaks around 4 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Sam Amorese, 67, was unloading groceries from his parked car when an SUV crashed and pinned him between two vehicles, police said.
Amorese’s 65-year-old wife was also struck by the SUV, along with his 5-year-old granddaughter and 1-year-old grandson. Amorese died from his injuries. His wife and grandchildren all survived.
The 39-year-old driver of the SUV experienced a medical episode and lost consciousness before the crash, according to police.
The driver stayed at the scene after the crash and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, police said.
