FRESH MEADOWS, Queens — One person is dead and two others are injured after a car and bus collided in Queens Monday night.

The FDNY says a call came in at 8:32 p.m., for a car collision at the intersection of Union Turnpike and 174th Street in Fresh Meadows. The collision involved a 2004 Ford Sedan and a 2011 MTA NYC Transit bus.

The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. His identity has not been released at this time.

The 44-year-old operator of the MTA bus was removed to Elmhurst General Hospital with minor injuries, and a 64-year-old woman on the bus was removed to Queens General Hospital with minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ford was traveling westbound on Union Turnpike, when it did veer counter-flow onto the eastbound lanes and struck the bus head-on which was traveling eastbound on the right lane on Union Turnpike – approximately feet east of East 174th Street.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is on the scene investigating.
