Speeding car slams into NJ Transit bus, injures at least nine

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11)– Police said a car was speeding when it hit a New Jersey Transit bus in Newark early Friday, leaving as many as nine injured.

The crash happened at the intersection of South 8th St. and Central Ave around 2:30 a.m. Friday, according to authorities.

The driver of the car took off on foot, bleeding heavily, cops at the scene said. He was caught at nearby gas station.

The passenger in that car was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the bus and six passengers, who received minor injuries, were also sent to hospitals nearby.
