JERSEY CITY, N.J. – One police officer made a young girl feel like a princess on her prom day.

Her proud mother posted to Facebook about how her daughter with autism had asked this officer to prom and he agreed.

“I was very, very lucky to her date,” Jersey City Officer Sean Connors said.

Connors came into Samantha Wadleigh’s classroom months ago. She’s one of 72 students in McNair Academic High School’s program for children with autism.

“He came in to visit the students,” Wadleigh said. “And I showed him some artwork that I did.”

Wadleigh later went home and told her mom she wanted to take Officer Connors to prom. They asked and Connors said yes.

“It was awesome,” Wadleigh said.

As the months passed, Wadleigh was worried he might forget.

“No I didn’t forget at all,” Connors said.

He showed up on prom night with a police cruiser and a red bowtie to match her dress.

“I dress in a tuxedo,” Connors said. “I then went and got Samantha chocolates and other candies as well that I brought with me too.”

And of course, a corsage.

“I would do it again,” he said.

Samantha is graduating in a couple weeks from McNair High School’s Star program.
