NOHO, Manhattan – Surveillance video and a sketch was released Monday of a subway slasher who cut a 71-year-old woman in the face during the Monday morning rush hour.
NYPD released this sketch of a man who allegedly slashed a woman in her left cheek. (NYPD)
The New York Police Department said the attacker was on board a northbound D train approaching the Broadway-Lafayette subway station at about 6:50 a.m
When the doors opened, he slashed the 71-year-old in her left cheek then ran away, police said.
Cameras caught the culprit – who was donning red sweatpants, a dark-colored jacket, red hoodie and multicolored sneakers – clumsily exiting the subway station and falling to the floor after crashing into a turnstile.
EMS responded and took the victim to a hospital where she was treated and released.
Police said the attacker appears to be about 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds with a thin-to-medium build, brown eyes and black hair.
