TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Final preparations are underway for the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square.

Confetti has been tested, and the Waterford crystal is in place, and for the first time in two years, the party will go on without any covid restrictions. But there are still tons of safety measures, street closures and rules to follow.

New York City leaders said the main question they’ve been getting is, “will everybody be safe here in Times Square and around the city for New Year’s Eve celebrations.”

Mayor Eric Adams and his team said they’re doing everything they can to make sure Times Square will be one of the safest places in the world come to the celebration.
