WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (PIX11) — A runaway police car sent pedestrians scrambling at the corner of Wadsworth Avenue and 182nd Street Tuesday afternoon.

Surveillance cameras from a deli on the corner showed the NYPD rolling from the west side of the street to the east, then crashing into the store.

Witnesses say two officers at the scene tackled a man to the ground before the incident. Another officer drove up in the squad car, jumped out, but apparently didn’t put the car in park.

A source tells PIX11 the officers were chasing a 37-year-old man who allegedly threw a brick from a building.

No one was injured.
