EAST HARLEM, Manhattan – Police are investigating a baby’s death after he was found dead face down in a crib at an apartment, possibly an illegal day care, in East Harlem Thursday.

The NYPD said officers responded to a 911 call of an unconscious infant on a fourth floor apartment at 1662 Park Ave. just after 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they found 4-month-old Ady Seck, unconscious and unresponsive.

EMS took the child to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The boy showed no signs of external injuries, police said.

Police said the apartment where the infant was found was operating as a day care, but they don’t know if it had the proper license. An online search of licensed day cares through the New York State database did not show the address.

Community Board 11, which represents East Harlem, Randall’s Island, Ward’s Island and Marcus Gavey Park communities, has on office on the first floor.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
