HARLEM, New York — A man accused of slashing a tourist in the neck in Harlem last week was arrested on Monday, police said.

The 27-year-old French man was walking with his girlfriend near 132nd Street and Seventh Avenue around 11 a.m. Friday when Khalief Young, 28, allegedly slashed him on the left side of his neck.

The victim was taken to the hospital with a laceration from the bottom of his left ear to his Adam’s apple, according to a criminal complaint. A tracheotomy was performed and he remained in the intensive care unit, as of Monday, per the complaint.

Young, of Harlem, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault, according to the complaint.
