EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan — A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in a playground at the Lillian Wald Houses overnight Friday.

Police responded to a shooting at East Sixth Street between Avenue D and FDR Drive a little before 2 a.m., police said. When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in a playground.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There is no known motive for the shooting as of yet. The investigation is ongoing.
