39-year-old Derek Robinson escaped police custody in SoHo on Friday night.

MANHATTAN — Police are looking for a person they say escaped police custody in SoHo on Friday.

Police were responding to a theft at a Nike store on Broadway and Spring Street around 7:20 p.m. They were in the process of arresting two suspects before one of them fled.

Police said the suspect they are looking for is 39-year-old Derek Robinson. Police described him to be about 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a blue and white shirt, blue jeans and high top sneakers.

He was last seen heading north on Mercer Street.
