MANHATTAN (PIX11) — Police are investigating the death of a Colorado woman after she plunged from the roof of a Times Square hotel Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old woman’s body was discovered on some scaffolding below the OYO Hotel on West 47th Street in Manhattan around 10:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Before her death, the victim had been fighting with her 24-year-old boyfriend, identified by police as Tyler Griffen, inside their hotel room, which spurred several 911 calls from concerned guests, police said. The pair also had a baby girl with them at the hotel, according to police sources.

Witnesses said the woman was punched, kicked and dragged through a hallway and into a staircase.

Sources said Griffin had pushed his girlfriend through a fire door on the 10th-floor roof and locked her outside. However, what happened next remained under investigation Wednesday night.

Juan Gamboa told PIX11 News he and his wife heard the commotion.

“We hear a noise outside our room,” he said. “My wife woke up and move the window shield and told me, ‘Oh my God there is a body out there.’”

The woman landed on the second-floor scaffolding. Law enforcement sources told PIX11 News there were no signs of her being pushed or thrown, but the woman was badly beaten just minutes before her death.

Police sources described Griffen as emotionally disturbed, and said arriving officers had to use a Taser to subdue him. He was brought to Bellevue Hospital for an evaluation, police said.

Griffen, also of Colorado, was charged with reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child, according to the NYPD.

The baby was also taken to a hospital but was unharmed, police sources said.
