MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — Two men were fatally shot in Manhattan early Thursday morning, police said.
One of the victims was found with a gunshot wound to the torso in front of a building on West 37th Street near Ninth Avenue at around 12:15 a.m., according to authorities. Afterward, officers found 34-year-old Kamir King with a gunshot wound to the head in a recording studio on the third floor of a commercial building on the same block where the first victim was found.
Both men were taken by EMS to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A gun was found near the first victim, who has not been identified by police.
The connection between the two victims remained unclear, NYPD Chief Salvatore Comodo said during a news conference Thursday. Police were also investigating whether the shooting was connected to another shooting that happened on May 7, 2021.
Police were investigating what the victims were doing before the shooting, as well. Deputy Inspector Aaron Klein said there was a group of men who went inside the building where King was found.
Police did not immediately provide a description of the suspect. The investigation remained ongoing, as no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
