LAKEVIEW, N.Y. (PIX11) — Two police officers were injured while attempting to arrest a driver on Long Island Sunday, officials said.

Police attempted to arrest the driver at Mahopac Road and Scaneateles Avenue in Lakeview around 2:30 p.m. The driver was wanted for fleeing Malverne police earlier in the day, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

When police approached the suspect’s car, the driver allegedly intentionally struck a police vehicle, then crashed into a second police vehicle, authorities said. The suspect then allegedly drove toward an officer outside of a vehicle.

Multiple shots were fired during the incident, police said. The suspect fled the scene without being apprehended.

Two officers were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. They have both since been released from the hospital.

The suspect’s car was later found in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. No arrests have been made.
