MOUNT SINAI, N.Y.— An employee at a Long Island cemetery died after a grave collapsed on him Thursday morning, authorities said.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai.

The man was leveling out the bottom of a grave when it collapsed on him, according to Suffolk County authorities.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

His identity has not been released.
